Frequently Asked Question's

Are there any additional costs for heating, bedding or towels?  Our prices include all gas, electricity, bed linen (flat sheets, fitted sheets, duvets, pillows), towels (one hand/one bath per person), bath mats, kitchen towels, under-floor central heating and number of occupants agreed at the time of booking.  The under-floor heating is very efficient and is perfect for all year round holidays.  Please bring your own cot linen if you have requested a travel cot.  Beds are made up for your arrival with our freshly laundered linen.

What method of payments do you accept?  Cheques made payable to 'Bracken Lodges' and most major Credit/Debit cards.  Please note that we do not add any additional surcharges for credit/debit card payments. We do not accept payment by American Express cards or International Bank Transfers due to the very high bank charges.  Overseas visitors can pay over the telephone securely by credit card - if you have any queries regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us further.

Do I need Holiday Insurance in case I need to cancelAfter confirmation of your booking, we will send you a Holiday Cancellation Form from Rothwell and Towler. We do recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.  Please complete the form enclosed with your confirmation or purchase on-line from www.guestfirst.co.uk (please quote our booking ref: B900). This is arranged by yourself if you wish to proceed.

What time can we arrive?  Lodges are available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and must be departed by 10.00am on the day of departure.

What happens if we cannot arrive until late evening?  If your arrival is going to be later than 6.00pm please telephone us and we will discuss alternative arrangements with you.

What are the car parking arrangements?  There is safe private parking next to each lodge with additional spaces available on the main car park.  Owners of vehicles park on our land at their own risk and we will not be responsible for any damage to any vehicle.

What do we need to bring?  Food, drink and personal toiletries.  We supply washing up liquid, dish cloths, salt and pepper, etc as standard.

Can we smoke in the lodge?  Our lodges are strictly no smoking properties.  Smoking is permitted outside the lodges, but all cigarette ends must be properly extinguished and disposed of properly. 

Can we bring a pet?  Our lodges are strictly no pet properties and we do not allow them to sleep overnight in vehicles.

Can we barbeque?  Disposable barbeques can be used in the vicinity of the lodges on the bricks provided but must not be placed on the balconies, grass or picnic tables.

Can we fish?  Free fishing for trout is available from the loch frontage which is approximately 400m from the lodges.  Any bait or method can be used and no permit is required.

Can we bring our kayak?  Access to the loch is provided by various footpaths from the lodges.  Kayaks can be carried to the loch frontage from there.

Can we bring our bicycles?  Bracken Lodges are located on the National Cycle Route No.7 and there are many fantastic cycle routes in the area.  Bicycles must not be brought inside the lodges at any time and can be stored safely outside the lodges.

Can we hire bicycles or fishing tackle?  Bicycles are available to hire in the villages of Kenmore and Killin.  They can also be hired from Girvan's or Dunolly Outdoor Centre in Aberfeldy.  We do not have fishing tackle available to hire, but inexpensive outfits can be purchased from the Outdoor Shop in Killin or Girvan's in Aberfeldy.

Do you have a play park?  We do not have a designated play park, but have 40 acres of wonderful woodland and grassland, which is a haven for children to explore and play like we used to do!  There is a fantastic play park at Victoria Park in Aberfeldy and also small play parks in the villages of Acharn, Kenmore and Killin.

Do you have internet access?  Internet access is available in Kenmore at the village shop or in Aberfeldy at EMB Graphics.

Are there laundry facilities?  We have a purpose built laundry with commercial washing machine and tumble dryer.  The machines are coin-operated and washing powder is provided.  All lodges have an iron, ironing board, clothes airer and have access to an outside clothes airer.

Where are the nearest shops?  The village of Kenmore (5 miles) has a very well stocked village shop in the Post Office and there is also a wide variety of goods at the Courtyard.  There is also a farm shop at Dull (7 miles) and a local vegetable stall on the roadside between Dull and Weem which sells seasonal vegetables and fresh farm eggs.  There are small Co-op supermarkets in the towns of Aberfeldy and Killin (10 miles).  No supermarket deliveries allowed.

Are there restaurant/bar facilities nearby?  The surrounding areas of Kenmore, Killin, Aberfeldy, Fortingall and Weem offer a variety of restaurants, pubs and hotels.
